Azerbaijan Comminications (AZCOM) was established in 1998 to combine efforts on solution of telecommunication's tasks of international, republican and local importance.
The first stage of establishing of "AZCOM" continued up to the end of 1998. From the beginning of 1999 "AZCOM" engaged on active work.

The sphere of activity:
    The main directions of "AZCOM" is rendering international, republican and local telecommunication's services, Internet-Services of high quality, and providing high-speed access to Internet-backbone, created by "AZCOM" infrastructure of local ISP.
   Along with above said, "AZCOM" using it own resources and possibilities of founders, renders consulting services, services on development of software.
   During the short time, beginning from its establishing, "AZCOM" created its own wireless network of transferring of integrated data and on the basis of its exploitation renders the services for "Shlumberge", "Agip" and project of UNESCO.
   The integration of all republicans ISP to the sole network, i.e. creation of Republican Internet in fact is one of large-scale achievements of "AZCOM".
   Beginning from 1998, "AZCOM", together with "Newbridge" is one of principle partner of UNESCO on project "SOWBANA".

LINES OF ACTIVITY

Creation of digital communications and its operation using eqipment of high technology and tipes of communication
Design, installation and opening of telecommunication services as per the international standarts
Establishment of specific telephone network, installation, operation and repair of radio, electronic and electric equipment and communication systems
Creation and operation of digital information network on the basis of Framc Relay, X. 25 and ATM technologies
Installation, adjustment and repair of office facilities and programming technical systems
Realisation of various projects, design, research and development works
Establishment of specialised digital nework intended for specific purposes, digital communication service using optic-fibre and digital channels as well as provision of services related to these systems
Internet operation and development
Works planning, design, manufacture and operation of communication devices, equipment
Provision of all types of services for electronic information
Operation,installation and purchase of onshore satellite stations

The near future plans and perspectives of development.
   At present time "AZCOM" fulfill the work on widening of its own network of data transferring at the all territory of Republic using on earth, wireless and cosmic lines of communication.
   From the beginning of 2000, the works on creation of new wireless network on the technology "Wireless-ATM" of firm "Newbridge" on project "SOWBANA" of UNESCO and European Community is planned.
   This summer the works on development of software products and teaching of specialist on the order of UNESCO are planned.
   The near future plans also contain of optimization and development of republican intra-network of ISP's, Connection of external Internet-backbone links and installations CIX (Commercial Internet Exchange); creation of base of data of State Internet-domain of higher level.
   At present time "AZCOM" realize the control of TLD "AZ".

Personnel and work's experience.
At present time "AZCOM" is situated in the condition of active development.
The base of personnel of "AZCOM" is formed by high-experienced servicemen and specialists from "AIS", "Intrans". At present time the number of collaborators is equal to thirty-five, nine of them administrative workers, six - technical assistance and twenty engineers.
